OUR VISION
Our ultimate vision is a self-sustaining Haitian hospital
approximating U.S. standards of care.
WHO WE ARE
January 1993 was the rudimentary beginnings of Mission Haiti Medical, as the first group of U.S. visitors representing our Indiana-based group joined together under God’s guidance in Haiti. Hosted by missionary Phyllis Newby, their goal was to help with medical challenges presented in Saintard, Haiti. As the ministry evolved over the years, the building of an indigenously sustainable clinic was begun by groups from North Carolina, Tennessee, Bermuda, Barbados, Jamaica, and many other locations around the globe. The vision presented by Ms. Phyllis Newby and local pastor, Jean Marie Louis Jean, came to fruition when the clinic opened in July 2005 with three Haitian staff members.
As the clinic has grown and changed to meet the needs of the community, the current staff of over 60 Haitian medical professionals see about 500 patients a week, adding to more than 200,000 patients who have passed through the doors since the clinic opened. Since becoming a 24/7 healthcare facility in January of 2018, we continue to strive to improve services and outreach for the Haitian community.
